Synopsis
On 22nd January 2006, Mr. John Buckley and Miss Lucinda Murphy undertook an excursion on Lough Derg, Co. Clare using a Canadian style open canoe, launching the craft from a slip at Two Mile Gate, Co. Clare. After travelling some distance in a northwesterly direction, parallel to the shoreline, they arrived at the Lough Derg Holiday Cottages Marina, in the town land of Annacarriga. Here the craft got into difficulties and capsized some 25 metres offshore. Mr. Buckley was drowned.
