Synopsis
The coastal tanker motor vessel "Whithaven" grounded outbound from New Ross, Co. Wexford on the River Barrow close to Ferry Point on Saturday morning 9th March 2002 at approximately 01.33 hours GMT. (See appendix 8.2). The vessel was refloated on the next high water and had suffered bottom hull penetration and damage. There were no apparent injuries to anyone on board and no pollution occurred.
